Welcome to the website for the Centre for Health, Medicine and Society: Past and Present. The Centre seeks to promote the study of the social and cultural history of medicine and is one of the leading research groups of its kind in the UK. Members of the Centre work collaboratively with staff in a number of Schools within the University and have research links with a wide network of associates, both national and international.
By clicking on the appropriate links, you will find information about staff and their research interests, postgraduate programmes, seminars and conferences, and outreach and dissemination activities.
The Centre is based in the Department of History in the School of Arts and Humanities. The Centre is able to offer associate status to researchers from outside the University. Each year the Centre is pleased to welcome visiting scholars who wish to spend a period of research leave based in the Centre.
Centre staff have contributed a number of articles to the latest issue of Wellcome History (Issue 45, Winter 2010): click here.
