The Theme for 2008-9 is Arts and Medicine
Based within the School of Arts and Humanities at Oxford Brookes, the Institute for Historical and Cultural Research (IHCR) fosters and develops collaborative, inter-, and multi-disciplinary research across the University in these broadly-defined areas. It provides a forum for debate, an infrastructure for efficient networking both internally and externally, and active assistance with research projects and programmes.
The Institute is committed to ensuring that the work of the researchers it sponsors becomes a resource for the wider communities that the University serves.
The IHCR currently sponsors seminars and research groups in addition to its programme of workshops, lectures, training events and research dissemination activities. Through this activity a thriving community of researchers and postgraduate students from diverse disciplines is developing. This website aims to give you a flavour of the work and collaborations taking place and the resources available through IHCR.
By clicking on the appropriate links you will find information about current and past projects sponsored by the IHCR and other projects underway within the university that are relevant to the remit of the Institute. The Museums and Galleries link opens up a database of contacts and collaborative projects involving Brookes and museums, galleries and other organisations. The Funding Information link provides contact details for potential funding sources for research and projects that are of an interdisciplinary and/or collaborative nature. The website will continue to be developed as a resource to inform and support research multi-disciplinary and collaborative research in the areas of historical and cultural studies.
