The Publishing Industry Advisory Board, which provides professional support and consultancy to the Oxford International Centre for Publishing Studies, Oxford Brookes University.
A fully qualified accountant (CIMA) Martin spent his early days gaining experience in a number of business environments, including three years with Nortel in Canada. He returned to the UK and held two multi -industry Financial Controller roles before moving into a CFO position in publishing.
He has over twenty years CFO experience, largely in Blackwell Science, then a world renowned academic publisher, where he was one of a small executive team which built what was a medium sized UK business into a full international group with turnover of £100m. Through this time he held general manager positions in publishing and ancillary operations in UK, France and Germany. He also negotiated and managed full legal and financial process of acquisitions and disposals in UK, Europe and USA.
Overall a senior, internationally experienced financial and general manager with an excellent record in business start ups, acquisitions and disposals, corporate restructuring, financing and latterly an AIM listed company. He still maintains a strong interest in publishing as a Director of an Oxford based trade publisher.
He holds a number of non business positions. He is particularly interested in education where he is a Governor of Oxford Brookes University.
